Awards and Recognition

Three Honours and Awards have been established for presentation to deserving persons in recognition of their contribution to the defence and security of Canada. Due to the ongoing nature and planning required to administer these Awards, the Board has established a standing committee to administer these Honours and Awards.

These Awards are:

The Patriot Award. Throughout Manitoba there are individuals, groups and corporations who demonstrate notable and exceptional support to Canada, the Canadian military and our Allies. This support can occur in many ways, including taking a public stand on Canada’s defence needs and the obligation as a country to stand up for the rights and protection of its citizens. The same support is often demonstrated toward our Allies, and often in the face of opposition.

The awarding of the Patriot Award is rare, and awarded only to those most deserving.

 

The Twice the Citizen Award. The Twice the Citizen Award recognizes Manitobans who have distinguished themselves in lifetime achievements in both their military and civilian careers and who have made an extraordinary contribution to Canada’s defence and security forces. The Award was established in 1999 in line with the RMIM objectives.

 

The Institute Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding service to Canada’s military or security forces and to contributions made to the RMIM by members of the RMIM.
